Your membership fee ($20 per year, tax deductible) will be spent exclusively on suicide prevention. We have no paid staff.
The Australian Suicide Prevention Foundation has been providing telephone (1800 HOLDON) and web services to those in need for over 10 years. We offer 24 emotional help anonymously and without embarassment through our use of technology.
We have plans in place to extend our range of assistance and services, and to undertake research necessary to reduce the incidence of suicide and suicide attempts across Australia. In recent years, about 40 people a week die from suicide, and about 800 people a week attempt suicide in Australia. This is a reduction compared to previous years, and we receive many letters and emails thanking us for our help. However, much work remains to be done.
